I got 2 cherry bomb mufflers today and reducers so I can hook them directly onto the headers and eliminate the whole exhaust system from the headers back. I hooked them up just to hear what they sound like. MUCH better....except I set off every car alarm in the parking lot...oh well ...heheheh. When I change over the rear from my old camaro I'll be able to just drop the whole exhaust and pop on the cherry bombs which I hope will be in about 2 weeks.
April 27/08
The last couple of days its been warm enough to work on the car. i removed the rear end ( with a little help at the very end) and noticed that the underside of the car needs a good amount of cleaning (wire brushing and priming and painting). so while I was figuring out the best way to do that quickly but a GOOD job I decided to fix the hood pins as best I could to make it look decent until my steel hood is painted and put on.
While I was in that area, I took the time to put on the chrome lower hood latch dress up cover. Then I got to work under the car again. I tried several types of drill attachments until i came up with the right combo and once i did rust was flying like crazy. I got so inspired because I was getting all the nooks and crannies so well, that i dropped the exhaust and opened up the area that was hidden by that too. tomorrow I think Ill be able to get all the loose rust off of the whole area in the rear up to the trans/drive shaft tunnel.
here are a few before/during pics....

so....while cleaning up the underside....i decided to lightly wire brush the gas tank and you guessed it...it started to leak. so off comes the tank....tank is pretty rusty so kittys tank is going on.
April 30th...took kittys tank off and to the radiator shop....cost 70.00 to boil it check it and repair it. it was the better of the 2 tanks...the other 1 is beat.
May 1st....more cleaning, priming and painting underneath. The rear panel is beat but kittys is very good...

stormy rear area after cleaning and prime and paint................

May 2/08
took kittys rear off today, also took off her rubber stops for the rear end and shocks which are pretty new. going to take her fuel lines for the new car too.
I was able to get kittys fuel lines off after having to cut a chunk of her welded on sub frame connector out.
ive painted the shocks and u bolts and rear and springs and am looking forward to reassembly SOON. evidently kitty had a 2 line system and stormy had a 1 line system. after looking everywhere i can think of for kittys fuel pump i cant seem to find it. so it looks like ill have to buy a new, 2 line pump.
took off kittys fuel lines (had to cut out a chunk of the frame connector on 1 side). and found the fuel pump.
cleaned up the main parts of her lines which were covered in undercoating and a tiny bit of surface rust here and there. i only have the front sections left to clean and paint.
